The San Antonio Spurs hate Tanking and I love it

With the start of the 21-22 NBA Off Season, the San Antonio Spurs coming from an unfortunate Play-In exit were looking to off load their Older players like Demar DeRozan, Patty Mills, Rudy gay and start the Next Generation of Spurs Basketball. That was led by key young players like Dejounte Murray, Keldon Johnson, Devin Vassell, Derrick White, Lonnie Walker and Joshua Primo. This was something we have never seen from Hall of Fame Coach Gregg Popovich, as his moto was trying to win every game possible and making the Post Season

They were expected to take the path of other young teams like OKC or the Rockets, collecting numerous picks, letting their young players take majority of the minutes and basically embrace losing. However, having a decent amount of cap space beacuse of the departure of Demar DeRozan, the Spurs surprised everyone with paying Veteran role players like Doug McDermott, Brynn Forbes, Tre Jones and Jakob Poetl. Then out of nowhere the Spurs came into the season highly competetive, fighting for loose ball every possession against playoff caliber teams, this was very surprising as Rebuilding Teams like OKC, Magic, Rockets wanted to lose games on purpose in hopes of getting a high overall pick in the draft.

The Spurs did something no one saw, competeting for a Play-In spot. As of now after a huge win over the Jazz, they are 0.5 wins out of play-in competetion. They are seperating themselves from the Teams who embrace losing, embrace a losing culture, in hopes of hitting on a high draft pick instead they are giving their young guys all the green light and surrounding them with great role players and developing them as the years go. Under a great coaching sturcture and a great basketball franchise like the Spurs, I expect them to be at the top very soon in the future.
