Is it time to believe in the Browns?

In the last three years, the Cleveland Browns have won a total of eight regular season NFL football games. While this statistic is shocking, what is more surprising is that seven of their eight wins came this year. The Browns had one victory in 2016 and none in the 2017 season. For a team that is in the NFL, you simply cannot be putting up these kinds of numbers. When a team reaches this level of notoriety for being one of the worst teams in NFL history, how can you expect people to believe again? The city of Cleveland needs to believe in its sports team again after the abysmal season the Cavaliers had.  In 2018 the Browns selected the University of Oklahoma sensation and Heisman trophy winner Baker Mayfield as their first pick in the NFL draft. Mayfield, a quarterback who is known for his antics both on and off the field was a spark that the Browns needed.This spark helped the Browns win 7 games this season, an accomplishment they have only done once in the last decade.

Fast forward to today, and we see that the Browns have beefed up their roster with players like David Njoku, Nick Chubb and Myles Garrett. They have gotten rid of their head coach Hue Jackson, and hired Freddie Kitchens who the offense flourished under last season.The addition of future hall of fame wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. being paired up with his former LSU teammate Jarvis Landry makes the Browns offense and defense worthy of a second glance. With a young team like the Browns heading into the 2019 season with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove, will they be able to repeat or beat the success of the 2018 season, or will the pressure prove to much for them to handle? ESPN is giving the Browns above a 50 percent chance to make the playoffs this year. Only time will tell, but I have a great feeling the Cleveland Browns will be the team to watch this year ; a sentence I never expected to say anytime soon.
