Carolina Panthers make Christian McCaffrey highest paid RB

The Carolina Panthers have signed star running back Christian McCaffrey to a 4-year $60 million extension. McCaffrey is now the highest-paid running back in NFL history as he is now averaging $16 million a year. McCaffrey was entering his final year in his 4-year $17.2 million rookie contract signed in 2017.

McCaffrey got the well deserved big payday as he was one of the league’s top running backs last year making his first appearance in the Pro Bowl and was selected to the First-Team All-Pro.

Recording 1,387 rushing yards ranking 4th in the league, 15 rushing touchdowns ranking 2nd in the league, and had an average of 4,9 yards per carry. McCaffrey was also deadly in the passing game as he caught 116 receptions for 1,005 yards with an average of 8.4 yards per reception and caught 4 touchdowns. McCaffrey joined Roger Craig and Marshall Faulk as the only players to record 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. McCaffrey also broke LaDainian Tomlinson’s record for the most catches by a running back in his first 3 seasons.
