With the 2021-2022 NBA season passing the halfway mark, the MVP race has narrowed down to only a few clear candidates. Currently Nikola Jokic, center for the Denver Nuggets, seems to be leading the pack after a sluggish start to the year in comparison to the reigning MVP’s lofty standards. However, since the month of December, Jokic has averaged 26.6 points per game along with 13.7 rebounds and 7.8 assists.

While the Joker is dominating, Joel Embiid, center for the Philadelphia 76ers is also enjoying a prosperous campaign, leading all centers in scoring and second overall in the NBA at 29.1 points per game.

If Jokic is able to edge out Embiid and any other players that may come on strong to end the season, it would make him only the 13th player in NBA history to win the MVP for consecutive seasons.
