Is Karl Anthony Towns the Greatest Big Man Shooter of All Time?

1

During the Minnesota Timberwolves victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, Karl Anthony Towns posted a season-high 28 points on 55% from the field, 33% from long range and 80% from the charity stripe. Along with his 28 points, he also had 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 blocks.

After the game Karl Anthony Towns was talking to Jon Krawczynski. During that conversation he quoted this “I’m the greatest big man shooter of all time. That’s a fact. You can see the stats. I ain’t got to play like no one else. Everyone trying to find themselves to be the second version of me when I’m the first version. I don’t got to be the second version of someone else. I’m already an original. I don’t have to be a duplicate of someone else.

Wow! That is a big claim, but if we look in depth, is it true? Well Karl Anthony Towns is currently shooting 39.7% from beyond the arch on 4 attempts per game. Now if we compare this to the Dirk Nowitzki, who tends to be labeled the “greatest big man shooter of all time”, Nowitzki attempted 3.4 three’s per game and them 38% of the time. Towns attempts more threes and shoots the three-ball more efficiently, so is his statement correct?

The Timberwolves are set to face the Dallas Mavericks at 8pm E.T, so can Towns dominate against the team Dirk built? I guess we will have to wait and see.
