Is this team a serious Contender?

The NBA has been full of surprises so far. Some teams have been very disappointing whereas some have been surprisingly great. One of the surprisingly great teams this season is the……………. Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies have no doubt exceeded expectations this year. Last season Memphis ended the regular season with a record of 38-34 and secured the 8th seed during that play-in tournament. Fast forward 29 games into the 2021-22 season and the Memphis Grizzlies possess a record of 18-11 and hold the 4th seed in the Western Conference.

Now there should be no doubt that Ja Morant has had a very impressive and much improved season so far but Memphis currently have a record of 9-1 without Morant. Morant injured his knee against the Atlanta Hawks on the 27th of November and has been out since. He also recently entered the NBA’s Health and Safety Protocols. 6’0 Guard Tyus Jones has covered the Point Guard role perfectly putting up 10.5 points, 6.4 assists, 3.7 rebounds and 1.5 steals over the last 10 games.

Are you a fan of grit and grind basketball or Hustle on both ends of the floor? Well, you should watch some Memphis games because…… Grizzlies are the definition of HUSTLE!

Now before Grizzlies haters start saying “No but Grizzlies have had an easy schedule“, 16 out of the Grizzlies 29 games played have been against teams .500 or higher. Memphis is showing us that they are CONTENDERS and most NBA fans are still doubting them.

2nd Year player Desmond Bane has been an X-Factor and a huge contributor to the Grizzlies success as he is putting up 16.5 points on 46.5% from the field, 40.5% from long range and an incredible 92.3% from the charity stripe.
