Karl-Anthony Towns Hits The 10k Career Point Mark, Let’s Talk About How He Got There.
Last night Dec 15th, 2021 Karl-Anthony Towns hit a big milestone on an open 3-point shot during a massive 124-107 win Vs the Denver Nuggets. Kat ended the game with 32 total points.

Kat became the 5th fastest active player in the NBA to hit that mark. He’s also the first in his 2015 draft class to hit it (Devin Booker of the Phoenix Suns is the closest to him at 9,883 Points).

KAT’s early career availability really helped him get to 10k points this fast. He played ALL 82 games in his first 3 seasons. And played 77/82 games in his 4th season. With the arm injuries and Covid year in 19-20, Kat didn’t get as many games in with 35 games played. And last year, he missed time due to getting Covid, and an early season wrist injury. Kat played 50/72 games in that shortened NBA season. Kat has been very available so far this season, only missing one game playing 26/27 possible games.
But you can’t just reach this mark by just playing games, you gotta score a lot too. In KAT’s 7 year career, he has averaged 23.0 PPG over those years. That PPG rank marks 1st in Timberwolves franchise history. Not to mention the insane 39.7% 3P mark he has set.
What could Kat end his career at for total scoring?
If Kat continues to stay pretty healthy over the next 6-7 years, he’ll reach the 20,000 point mark around his 32-33 year old seasons. And if he keeps playing at a high level for a few more seasons, and maybe retires around the age of 38-40, he could get around 27-30+ thousand career points. But, he’s still only 26, so it’s hard to look 10+ years into the future. All we can say is that his future looks very bright.
