Garrison Matthews and Armoni Brooks have been absolute deadeyes for the Rockets during Kevin Porter Jr and Jalen Green’s absence.
Over the last 10 games, Matthews has been putting up 15.3ppg on 48% shooting. He has been great on defense for the Rockets too by drawing charges and locking up defenders with 1.1spg. Brooks has been playing a great role in Houston’s winning spurt, with averages of 11ppg over the last 10 games. He has been playing great at the SG role and when needed has been the playmaker on the court.
Per report from Johnathan Feigen
Matthews and Brooks will be benched upon the return of the starting guards Kevin Porter Jr and Jalen Green. This makes sense seeing as Porter Jr, Green and also Sengun are Houston’s centrepieces for their rebuild and they are trying to develop them as much as possible. The frontcourt spots seem to be locked with Tate and Wood and most likely Eric Gordon, who is playing amazing over the last 7 games.
Gordon is coming off a stellar performance against the Hawks which ended with dropping 32 points. Over the last 7 games, Gordon has been putting up 20.3ppg on a very efficient 53.8% from the field and 48.7% from deep!!
Rockets are set to face the Cleveland Cavaliers today at 7 pm ET which should be a great contest. It does bring the question though because the Cavaliers have such a tall starting lineup, will Stephen Silas play 2 bigs in Daniel Theis and Christian Wood or keep the Brooks, Gordon, Matthews, Tate, Wood lineup. We will see tonight what the decision is anyway!
Here is a short clip of some Sengun magic to brighten up your day!
