Russell Wilson Top Trade Destinations
When you think of a franchise quarterback, names that instantly come to mind are guys like Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Peyton Manning, and Russell Wilson.
Usually, the front office does everything in their power to keep a franchise player happy, but recent reports show that the Seahawks and QB Russell Wilson have a rocky relationship because of Seattle’s inability to protect their all-pro cornerstone.
Wilson’s camp has told media that there are four teams that the QB would agree to a trade to, that would officially break his no trade clause.
Although Wilson only is interested in four teams, there’s always a chance for a dark horse team to scoop up Wilson and run away with a future Hall of Famer.
Let’s take a look at where Russell Wilson’s career could be headed.
Chicago Bears
The Chicago Bears are the most appealing team for Wilson according to recent reports. Wilson is entertained with the idea of “turning around a historical franchise.” Wilson also enjoys the idea of Chicago’s young and developing offensive line which he so desperately desires from the Seahawks. If the Bears want Wilson, it will most likely have to entail three 1st-round picks and a star player such as Roquan Smith. If the price is right, Seattle could pull the trigger and start all over without Wilson.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints are another team on Wilson’s list of teams he would accept a trade to, and for obvious reasons. One being the elite offense including RB Alvin Kamara and WR Michael Thomas along with a steady offensive line unit. The Saints defense is solid as well but their cap issue is where this hits a brick wall. New Orleans continues to dig out of their cap hole, but a trade for one of the most expensive players in the league won’t help the deep hole. A base of a Saints-Seahawks trade would be another three 1st-round picks, along with a player like Marcus Davenport or possibly ab addition 1st-round pick.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys have everything they need to complete a trade for Russell Wilson except the Seahawks willingness to trade the star QB. Unfortunately for Jerry Jones, Dak Prescott is not under contract yet and there’s a chance Dallas will have to tag Prescott for yet another season. With that being said, would Dallas pull the trigger for Wilson? Most likely not but anything is possible in the offseason.
Las Vegas Raiders
Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock are twiddling their hands with the idea of Russell Wilson in a Raiders uniform. Wilson would instantly boost the Vegas offense and WR Henry Ruggs could become a star just like DK Metcalf became alongside Wilson. The problem is that Derek Carr is not that appealing to Seattle who would want to rebuild if they were to trade Wilson. It would take 1st rounders and more but the cap space isn’t an issue between these teams.
Miami Dolphins
This is an ideal trade for both teams as Wilson would go to an instant contender that would go all in on offensive line help via draft and free agency. Miami has a proven defense that is championship worthy but needs the right leader at QB to compete. Tua Tagovailoa doesn’t look quite ready to lead a team and each franchises Super Bowl window closes quickly and unexpectedly. Miami would beucky to land Wilson but it’s nothing more than a idea at this current time.
Denver Broncos
The Broncos have not had a franchise QB since Peyton Manning and Russell Wilson would fill the gap perfectly. Wilson is a great leader that would have a young offensive core in Jerry Jeudy, Courtland Sutton, and Noah Fant. John Elway has had his eye mainly on Deshaun Watson and the Texans situation, but nothing says they’re not in on the Wilson talk.
