Football has went into its last international break of 2020 and Uruguay went into the World Cup Qualifiers COVID-19 free after testing, but somehow an outbreak between the Uruguayan’s started and unfortunately Luis Suarez, Diego Godin, Lucas Torriera, Darwin Nunez, Alexis Rolin, Diego Rossi, Brian Rodriguez, Rodrigo Muñoz, Gabriel Neves, Matias Viña and five staff members have all tested positive for COVID-19 and the rest of the squad have been severely exposed to the virus.

Luis Suarez and Rodrigo Muñoz were the first two players to test positive. They tested positive right after the game between Uruguay and Colombia last Friday and they were isolated immediately.

Uruguay played Colombia in Barranquilla, beating them 3-0 in a dominating fashion. Goals from Uruguay’s star striker duo Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez as well as a goal from exciting prospect Darwin Nunez put Uruguay over Colombia in their worst defeat at home in the history of the World Cup Qualifiers.

Afterwards, everyone was tested and nobody tested positive which gave Uruguay the green light to play against Brazil at home that next Tuesday. After that game on Tuesday, 8 other players almost miraculously tested positive which alarmed the AUF (Uruguayan Association of Football).

All the players that tested positive are now isolated and in quarantine, and the players that are yet to test positive are all isolated and constantly testing as a precaution before returning to their clubs safely.
