After weeks of speculation, Chris Paul has finally found a new home in the Valley of Arizona joining the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster trade.
Phoenix traded Kelly Oubre Jr., Ricky Rubio, Jalen Lecque, Ty Jerome, and a 2022 First Round Pick to the Oklahoma City Thunder for the rights to Chris Paul and Abdel Nader.
On paper ,the Thunder definitely won this trade. Phoenix will be paying a lot for Paul and lost a crucial asset in Kelley Oubre Jr. Although it looks as if OKC won the trade, the Suns most likely gave Oubre the boot because of his big contract. This means that the Suns have some more cap space to sign a big player during this years Free Agency period.
Fred Van Vleet, Montrezl Harrell, and Jeremi Grant are among players linked to a potential move to Phoenix.
35 year old, Chris Paul, helped the Thunder move to a 5th seed in the West last year after being projected 12th, but the question is if an aging Paul can bring that same energy to Phoenix.
Bringing Paul into Phoenix is a message from James Jones and Monty Williams to Devin Booker trying to make him stay in Phoenix and tell him that they want to win now.
The big three of Booker, Ayton and Paul can be deadly considering Booker’s impressive offensive skill, Ayton’s “bully ball” mentality, and Chris Paul’s legendary playmaking skills.
