Jrue Holiday May be Traded to THIS Contender in the Offseason
The New Orleans Pelicans are looking for a new look. After a mediocre season, they fired their coach, Alvin Gentry, and are looking to build around their first-overall pick in 2019, Zion Williamson.
To do this, they want to develop their young core. This means an increased role for players like Josh Hart, who backed up Jrue Holiday at the Shooting Guard position.
Holiday still has one more guaranteed year on his contract, as well as a player option that he will likely accept.
This means they can’t wait out his contract, they will have to ship him to another team.
This team is The Miami Heat. According to Greg Sylvander, The Miami Heat are expected to pursue Jrue Holiday, however with a few acceptions.
Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo appear to be untouchable. With that said, a trade for Jrue could look like this:
- Heat receive:
Jrue Holiday
- Pelicans Receive:
Andre Iguodala
Kelly Olynyk
Duncan Robinson
Chris Silva
The key pieces here are Duncan Robinson and Chris Silva. Despite not having much hype coming into the NBA, they have proven to be solid role players with the potential for a lot more.
As well, the Pelicans are in need of some veterans to place around their young core and Olynyk and Iguodala would be just that.
The Heat, of course, receive Jrue Holiday who could help elevate them to the title as they came very close last season, taking LeBron and the Lakers to six games.
The Heat still have a hole at the Power Forward they would need to fill, but Holiday would but them on the right track.
