Alphonso Davies Out For 6-8 Weeks with Ankle Injury
The Canadian national, Alphonso Davies, is out with an ankle injury which could sideline him for up to 2 months.
The fullback rolled his ankle in the opening minute against Eintracht Frankfurt. Davies was making his way backwards to stop a Frankfurt attack when he fell to the ground in pain. He clutched and signaled to be taken off right away.
Davies had begun the season on a rocky patch as is he saw limited playing time coming off of the 2019-2020 season named Bundesliga Rookie of the Year and playing a critical role in Bayern’s UEFA Championship win.
Bayern is now looking to play French fullback Lucas Hernandez who signed with the team back in March for $124.6 million.
The time away from the pitch will serve as a test to see if the Canadian stud can regain his form that we was playing at last year.
Bayern and Canada’s National Team alike should be worried but optimistic in a speedy recovery for Davies, as both teams hope to elevate their play in preparation for the Bundesliga and World Cup qualifiers where Davies will be a key component for both squads.
