The first potential meeting between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will take place on Wednesday, when Juventus take on Barcelona in the Champions League.
Juventus has been looking very strong this season, as they have remained unbeaten since August 7th, 2020. In the three matches Cristiano Ronaldo has played in the Serie A, he has converted 3 goals and 1 assist helping Juve remain at the top of the league early in the season. As for the Champions League, Juventus won 2-0 against Dynamo Kyiv without Ronaldo after he unfortunately tested positive for COVID-19.
Barcelona on the other hand has been nothing but disappointing this season in La Liga. Last weekend, Barcelona lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in El Classico after goals from Valverde, Ramos and Modric assured Madrid’s win against Barca, and the fixture before that, Barcelona lost 1-0 to Getafe. Although their La Liga record is not great, in the Champions League, Barcelona had a dominant victory against Ferencváros winning 5-1 against the Hungarian team.
This is going to be an interesting matchup to see as it is one of the most anticipated matches of the season. Both of these teams are contenders to win the Champions League and they are evenly matched on paper, but what fascinates most is the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo will go head to head against Lionel Messi for the first time since 2018 after his departure from Real Madrid. This game could go either way and it is a must watch on Wednesday night.
