Cardinals Stun Seahawks in OT Classic
In a huge game in the NFC West, the Cardinals pulled off a 10-point 4th quarter comeback to win 37-34 in overtime against the Seahawks on Sunday Night Football. In an early season game of the year contender, the Cardinals did not hold the lead until Zane Gonzalez’s game winning field goal.

The Cardinals offense showed up in a huge way in this game. Kyler Murray delivered a signature performance, with 360 passing yards and 3 TDs. The rushing attack also worked well for Arizona, led by Murray’s 67 yards and additional TD, and some big runs late by Chase Edmonds. The receiving core shared the success. Hopkins ended with 103 yards and a score, Fitzgerald amassed 8 catches for 62 yards, and Christian Kirk had multiple TDs for the 2nd straight week.
Seattle certainly kept up in the game offensively. Wilson finished with 388 yards and 3 TDs, but 3 costly interceptions including one in overtime. Tyler Lockett was a man possessed, with 15 catches for 200 yards and 3 TDs. He dominated with Patrick Peterson shadowing DK Metcalf for most of the night. The running attack for Seattle was led by their QB as well, with Wilson leading the way with 84 yards on the ground.
The overtime was spectacular football. The Seahawks got the ball first, and were forced to punt. After the Cardinals drove down into field goal range, Gonzalez missed a potential game winner. Seattle then with time to drive once again, turned the ball over. Rookie Isaiah Simmons came up with his first NFL interception. The Cardinals then wound down the clock, and Gonzalez iced the game with a 49 yarder.
After this game, the NFC playoff picture shifts once again. The Bears can move into the 1 seed with a win tonight against the Rams. The Seahawks will remain 1 if the Rams win, but that will move 3 NFC West teams to 5 wins. It will be very interesting to see how that division shakes out, with the last place 49ers at 4-3.

The Cardinals proved something in this game. Their wins had been against mainly inferior opponents thus far. However, taking down the undefeated Seahawks is a statement. This team is not just exciting, they are a contender moving forward.
