Andy Dalton Suffers Head Injury in Blowout Loss

In another devastating week for the disappointing Cowboys team, they lost not only the game, but their backup quarterback. With the NFC East still wide open, this is another hit to what should be the best team in the division. The Cowboys now sit at 2-5, half a game back of the division lead, and are trending downwards.

In today’s game, the Dallas offense looked ineffective even with Dalton in the game. They only mustered 3 points, and struggled to move the ball. Costly drops, sacks, missed throws, turnovers and more costed the Cowboys heavily on that side of the ball. Many people said the drop off from Dak to Dalton would be minor. It was not.

After Dalton left the game, due to a hit to the head by Jon Bostic, the offense was left in neutral. Rookie Ben Dinucci only attempted 3 passes, completing 2. The offensive line gave him very little time to operate, and the run game did little with the defense locked in on Zeke.

Dalton’s injury has been diagnosed as a concussion. He flew back with the team after the game, and will be reevaluated. If he is unable to play next week, Dinucci will start against the Eagles, barring a move during the week.

The Dallas defense somewhat kept Washington in check this week, but remains an enormous issue. They continue to give up big plays, and struggle to get off the field. With injuries adding up on that side of the ball as well, Dallas’ team looks far from a playoff contender.

Despite all the negatives, the Cowboys are very much still in the race for the division. With the Eagles on deck next week on Sunday night, the Cowboys can regain the division lead with a win. However, with the current quarterback situation, that still seems unlikely.
