Buccaneers Sign Antonio Brown

WOW. He’s back. After being released by the Patriots last season, and suspended for the first 8 weeks of this year, AB has found a new home. According to Rappaport, the Buccaneers added the wide receiver on a 1 year deal.

It became obvious over the last few weeks that Brown would find a new home soon. The Seahawks showed interest, with Russell Wilson openly saying he would welcome the former All-Pro wideout in Seattle. The Ravens have also had interest during the offseason, but that seemed unlikely after the addition of Dez Bryant.

This offense has now become ridiculous. Their receiving core has 3 pro bowlers in Brown, Evans and Godwin. Gronkowski, despite not being the same player, is still effective. The RB group of Jones, Fournette and Vaughn has shown they can be extremely efficient. With a quarterback like Tom Brady, the upside here is ridiculous.

Antonio Brown, at his best, was probably the best WR in the game. He consistently put up ridiculous numbers, and made the Steelers offense very dangerous. Many defensive backs and coaches at the time were giving him praise as the best receiver in the game.

In recent years, it has been off the field issues hurting AB. He played in just one game last season, after being released by the Raiders. The Patriots signed him, he played one game, then was subsequently released once again. It is extremely rare to see a player this talented out of football so long, and it raises serious concerns.

Looking at the Bucs this season, they are a true contender. Sitting at 4-2, they boast one of the better defense in the league, and an offense with elite talent everywhere. If Brown can fit in and contribute, it is tough to see anyone stopping them from here on out.
