Breakout Big Man Christian Wood dropped a possible bomb while on Instagram Live the other day.
At the end of hive livestream, Wood asked his fans “Where should I go next year? I need ideas.”
He then immediately ended his stream.
Wood had a breakout season with the Detroit Pistons last season. He averaged 13.1 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 56.7% from the field and 38.6% from deep.
That was nothing compared to Wood’s stats as a starter. When Wood started, he averaged 21.9 points and 9.4 rebounds while shooting a similar 56.0% from the field and 40.8% from deep.
Even though the Pistons had given up on the season by the time Wood became the starter, he still impressed with his consistency and high volume scoring.
The 6’10 Power Forward is set to be a free agent in the offseason estimated to be worth around $9.3 Million. That is around the cost of the mid-level exception, meaning he could go just about anywhere.
Although Wood said what he said on Instagram, it’s likely he would be willing to stay with the Pistons for the right price.
Wood did not seem particularly unhappy in Detroit and the Pistons want him back, so it’s not impossible he simply re-signs.
Wood will make an impact no matter where he goes, and we’re just going to have to wait and see.
