Cavaliers, Drummond Unlikely to Agree on Contract Extension
Two-time all-star Andre Drummond looks like he may become a free agent this offseason. Although Drummond has a Player Option worth $28.8 Million, it seems like the big man wants to secure a long-term deal.
According to Evan Dammarell, The Cavaliers and Drummond are “far apart” on a contract extension.
Drummond was traded to Cleveland during the trade deadline for Brandon Knight and a second-round pick.
Since Drummond has been in Cleveland, he has averaged 17.5 points, 11.1 rebounds, 1.5 steals, and 1.4 blocks.
Andre Drummond has made it very clear he would like a large pay-day, but the Cavaliers seem hesitant to give one to someone who has regressed since joining them.
This likely means Drummond will hit the market. Several teams could use a man of his abilities like the Warriors or Rockets, but they lack the money. We’ll see how this plays out.
