Drew Brees on Justin Herbert: “He’s Got a Really Bright Future”
The Chargers narrowly lost to the Saints on Monday Night football, 27-30. Despite leading by 17 at one point in the game, veteran quarterback, Drew Brees, and the Saints were able to comeback and win the game to improve their record to 3-2. The Chargers fell to 1-4 after the loss.
Rookie quarterback, Justin Herbert, has shined in his first few NFL starts despite posting an 0-4 record. Against the Saints, Herbert threw for 264 yards and completed four touchdowns. If not for the missed game winning field goal, the Chargers would have won against the Saints.
After the game, Brees shared his thoughts on Herbert. Brees said that he told Herbert that he was “really impressed with him” and that “he’s got a really bright future”.
Saints coach, Sean Payton, also commented on the rookie quarterback saying that “he’s a good young talent” and “you don’t feel like you’re playing against a young player” when playing against Herbert
Both the Saints and the Chargers have a bye week next week and will resume play week seven.
