NFL Announces Updated COVID-19 Regulations

Amid lots of concern about corona virus cases rising, as well as our first postponed NFL game of the season, the NFL has posted updated COVID testing regulations as well as punishments. Inevitably, cases were going to rise again. However, we can only hope and expect that the league is prepared to safely complete this season.

Daily testing will continue, apart from game days. They are confident that they have the resources to continue that all season. All players and coaches must oblige to ensure no more games are cancelled. Depending when they reschedule the upcoming Titans Steelers game for, it may heavily impact the entire NFL schedule.

Updated punishments for missed tests have also come out. The first test missed will be a $50,000 fine. Should a second test be missed, a one game suspension without pay occurs. A third missed test will open up the league for additional suspensions or punishment. That being said, we must hope that no players miss tests.

As the NFL decided against having a bubble or multiple bubbles this season, they need to be very vigilant. Any outbreak would cause multiple teams and stadium staff to need immediate testing. With travel, as well as the amount of players and staff at NFL games, the season is in jeopardy. They have done well to get to this point, but this season is already on thin ice.
