Markieff Morris Claims AD is the Best Player in the NBA
Following up on a huge win in game 1 of the NBA Finals, Lakers forward Markieff Morris had a very interesting take about his all star teammates. He mentioned that he believes they have the best player in the World, but it is not Lebron James. He claims AD is the best in the game, because of how consistent he is on both ends.
In a year where LBJ was a genuine MVP candidate, this becomes a very bold take. He averaged a career high, league leading 10.2 assists per game this year, to go along with his 25 points and 7.8 rebounds. However, Anthony Davis did average over 26 points, over 9 rebounds, and over 1.5 steals and blocks per game this past season.
On the defensive end, Davis was a genuine DPOY candidate, while Lebron still seems to pick his spots on defense during the season. However, despite this, LBJ is a much more versatile offensive player, facilitating for his teammates and dominating both inside and out. Davis has become a better perimeter player, but still does not dictate the offense the way Lebron does.
Markieff certainly is not the only one expressing this opinion, but it is early to dethrone the King. He still runs the league until he dramatically drops off, and he has shown these playoffs that on any given night he can statistically dominate a game to ensure a Lakers win.
