Ryan Fitzpatrick has Historic Night in TNF Win
Throughout the week, a usually dire Thursday Night Football matchup between the Dolphins and Jaguars received incredible hype. This was due to the inticing quarterback battle, which promised to be one for the ages. The ageless journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick, a man who has been on countless teams, with fluctuating success. He was going up against Gardner Minshew, the 2nd year quarterback out of Washington State, who was a late round flier in last year’s draft.
Fitz has always proved people wrong throughout his NFL career. He has found success on some very bad teams, sometimes making teams who seem to be tanking very competitive. He has always been an old-fashioned gunslinger, not bothered by potential turnovers but confident in his arm.

Minshew plays a slightly similar style with his aggressiveness throwing the football. He is a little more conservative, but certainly takes a fair share of shots, which may come from the doubt following him so far in his career. He also uses his athleticism to make plays, especially on 3rd down, as does Fitzpatrick.
This game was a tale of two offense. The Jaguars, apart from running back James Robinson looked helpless without number one wideout DJ Chark. Meanwhile, the Dolphins were rolling all night, with everybody contributing. Ryan Fitzpatrick was in a zone, and put up historic numbers. At the age of 37, he completed a miraculous 90% of his throws, finishing with a QBR of 140.0. It is extremely rare for any quarterback to have numbers close to these, even rarer for a player at Ryan’s age. It is miraculous to see what he is doing, and every football fan can only hope for more Fitzmagic in the future.
