Luis Suarez has been in the news recently due to his shakey relationship with Barcelona. There was mutual interest between Suarez and Barcelona’s manger, Ronald Koeman, about the striker’s departure from the club, and it seemed like Juventus were the front runners to sign Suarez.
Unfortunately for Juventus fans, Luis Suarez could not take his citizenship test in time for the transfer deadline. Which made the negotiations between the club and the player stop.
This did not stop Barcelona from attempting to sell Luis Suarez. He is a citizen in three countries. He’s a citizen in England, Spain and Uruguay. That means less options were available for Suarez, but many teams were interested in him.
Atletico Madrid’s manager, has shown his interest in Suarez. He has put in a transfer offer for Suarez after knowledge of the Juventus transfer falling through went public.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona has terminated Luis Suarez’s contact. Making him a free agent in order to let Atletico Madrid sign him on a free transfer. Many Spanish outlets have confirmed that Suarez is no longer a player for Barcelona. Suarez’s deal to Atletico Madrid should be announced within the next few days.
