WWE Smackdown Results – 9/4/20

Roman Reigns and Paul Heyman Talk About Their Relationship:

Paul Heyman starts off my saying Roman Reigns brought him back to WWE. This segment explained why Reigns is now a heel. Heyman took shots at the two former Universal Champions. We now see an even more serious Heyman and now Roman Reigns, who is champion once again, and a heel. 

The Miz and John Morrison vs. Heavy Machinery:

Heavy Machinery had the momentum throughout the entire match. Otis and Tucker used their strength to wear down The Miz and Morrison. Otis finishes off The Miz with the Caterpillar and a splash from the middle rope for the win. After the match, John Morrison runs off with Otis’ Money In The Bank briefcase. Heavy Machinery wins via. pinfall – Grade C

Women’s Tag Team Title Match – Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax (c) vs. Sasha Banks and Bayley:

Baszler and Jax took control to start the match, but both teams eventually went back and forth. Sasha Banks did find a way to take down Jax and gain momentum. Banks hit a Meteora but Jax kicked out at two. “The Boss” Sasha Banks then tried to take out Baszler but ran into the post, hitting both her knees. The champs then took the upperhand in the matchup, and stayed strong. Baszler looked to submit both of her opponents once again but the challengers got out of it. Jax, eventually, hit a crossbody pinning both Banks and Bayley for the win. Banks, hurt after the match, is looking for help from Bayley. Bayley, then, brutally attacks Banks and targets the injured leg. Bayley then puts a chair around the neck of Banks, and steps on the leg of the chair. The Smackdown Women’s Champion rolls out of the ring after a vicious attack on her former friend. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax win via. pinfall to retain the Women’s Tag Team Championship – Grade A-

Intercontinental Brawl

Sami Zayn enters the ring and begins to take shots at the ring announcer. Jeff Hardy then interrupts Zayn and AJ Styles does the same. The three then brawl and Zayn stands tall after landing a Helluva Kick to the head of Hardy. 

No. 1 Contender Match for the Universal Championship – King Corbin vs. Matt Riddle vs. Jey Uso vs. Sheamus

Big E was supposed to partake in the match but Sheamus attacked him and dropped “The New Day” member on top of a car. All four men in the match took out one another, eventually, leading to Sheamus beating down Uso. Sheamus looks to take out everyone, but Riddle takes down “The Celtic Warrior.” Riddle hits a German suplex and goes for the pin, but Sheamus kicks out at two. Sheamus then gains back the momentum and tries to submit Riddle. Uso, out of nowhere, lands a superkick. Corbin tries to steal the win but Usop kicks out. All of the members fight outside of the ring. Riddle and Corbin end up back in the ring and go at one another. Riddle hits a Floating Bro, but Uso lands a frog splash and pins Riddle. He will now have a shop at the Universal Championship against his cousin, Roman Reigns at Clash of Champions. Jey Uso wins via. pinfall to become the No. 1 Contender for the Universal Championship – Grade B+

Look out for Smackdown next Friday, once again inside the WWE Thunderdome.
