The Warriors Could Consider Taking Lamelo Ball 2nd Overall:

With the Warriors landing the 2nd pick in this year’s NBA draft, the assumption of many people is the Warriors would most likely take James Wiseman or perhaps Anthony Edwards if they keep their second pick. However, the Warriors might not share the same mindset:

The Warriors are on the record saying the point guard position is the strongest in the draft. Even though Ball isn’t a likely selection with the second pick, the Bay Area’s new’s group Wes Goldberg hasn’t completely ruled out the idea of the Warriors considering Ball second overall:

“If they believe Ball is likely to develop into an All-Star, they will be prepared to draft him,”

The Warriors are a smart enough organization to understand that talent wins championships; if they conclude Ball is the most talented prospect in the draft, they’d probably heavily consider taking him despite Lavar Ball telling them, “Don’t draft my boy.”

The Warriors are also reportedly very high on Iowa State point guard Tyrese Haliburton. Haliburton is viewed as a player that can be a positive contributor right away, which is something the Warriors probably appreciate, considering they’re in a championship window. If they ever decided to trade back in the draft, Haliburton would make sense as a target.
