Giannis Antetokounmpo Beats Out Davis To Win Defensive Player Of The Year

Giannis Antetokounmpo beat out Anthony Davis to win this year’s Defensive Player of the Year. He is also the leading candidate to win this year’s MVP which would have him join Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon as the only players to win both awards in the same season.

This is a very controversial decision as many basketball fans seem to think that Davis was more worthy for the award. He was 3rd in the league in blocks per game.

Giannis ranks 1st in the league in defensive win shares which is probably the reason why he may have gotten the edge.

Both had very solid cases for who should have won the award, but voters gave the edge to Giannis.
