Daniel Ricciardo Explains his bet with Abiteboul

At the British Grand Prix Daniel Ricciardo finished in 4th. This tied his highest finish in Renault colours. After he crossed the line and finished the race he was heard on the team radio talking to Renault team Principal Cyril Abiteboul saying that he was only 1 position away from them honouring their bet.

Ricciardo has since revealed the details and terms of the bet he has with Abiteboul.

If Ricciardo finishes on a podium at some point in the 202 Formula 1 season, then he and Abiteboul have to get matching tattoos.

Ricciardo said that Abiteboul chooses the “place and size” of the tattoo but he, Ricciardo, chooses the design.

“It is a big deal for Cyril,” said Ricciardo because he does not have any tattoos so this would be his first.

Ricciardo has said that he wants it to be something funny that when Cyril looks at it, he laughs and remembers Daniel and their time together at Renault.

Ricciardo has until the end of the season to achieve a podium as he will be racing for McLaren with Lando Norris next season.
