New Orleans Stays Alive With Win Over the Wizards

The New Orleans Pelicans have defeated the Washington Wizards 118-107. This is the Wizards 5th loss of the NBA restart. The Pelicans have now won their second in Orlando. Since the Wizards lost, the Orlando Magic have now clinched a spot in the playoffs.

The Pelicans were led by Jrue Holiday, who had a very productive night. The guard dropped 28 points, grabbed 3 rebounds, and dished out 6 assists. The only downfall to Holiday’s stat line tonight was his 7 turnovers. All-Star forward Brandon Ingram added another 17 points. Center Derrick Favors had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Lonzo Ball did not have a great night with only 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists. Rookie sensation, Zion Williamson was rested for the game.

He had 23 points, 6 rebounds, and added another 2 assists. Center Thomas Bryant remains dominant with another 22 points, and 8 rebounds. Tony Brown Jr., a 2018 first-round pick, was very productive with 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Point guard Ish Smith, added another double-double.

The Wizards seem to be out of playoff contention, as they have currently not won a game in Orlando. The Pelicans remain alive in the standings, but will have a tough time making the playoffs. The Memphis Grizzlies have a three-game lead on the Pelicans for the 8th-seed.

The Washington Wizards will move on to play the Oklahoma City Thunder. The New Orleans Pelicans will look to keep their playoff hopes alive against the San Antonio Spurs. Both games will be played on Sunday, August 9th.
