Portland Trail Blazers Forward Trevor Ariza has opted out of participation in the NBA’s return in Orlando next month.
He has instead committed to a one month visitation window to see his young son.
The Trail Blazers are one of 5 Western Conference teams not currently in the playoffs that are going to Orlando. This teams are all 6 games or less out of a playoff spot.
Ariza has been involved in a custody case over his 12-year old son, and mother’s choice of granting a court-ordered one month visitation period during league’s quarantine of teams in Orlando left Ariza to choose those parenting responsibilities over competing in restart.
