Many reasons explained why he chose to enter the transfer portal. One of them being that Taulia didn’t want to be in the shadow of Tua. As successful as Tua was at Alabama, his brother wants to lead a team without being compared to the big brother.

Another reason could be due to the rise of the new quarterback for the Crimson Tide, Josh Jones. When Tua suffered his hip injury, Jones led Alabama to a 3-1 record and a win in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan with a score of 35-16. He also completed 68.8% of his passes for 14 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. It seems that Alabama has found the next man up in Jones

When Alabama made the decision, Taulia made the decision to transfer. He does show a lot of promise, as in high school he posted numbers of 3,728 yards and 35 touchdowns while in high school.

The numbers should be able to transfer over close to the same with the right coaching and players surrounding the potential star. There were flashes of a dual threat superstar on the rise and Taulia will look to prove that narrative as a Maryland Testudo.
