Free-agent Logan Ryan has announced on Good Morning Football he has not agreed to a deal with the New York Jets. Earlier in the week, many reports broke out regarding Ryan signing a 1-year deal with the Jets.
“The Jets, it makes a lot of sense, but I’m open for business,” Ryan said on Good Morning Football.
Ryan is currently one of the few top free agents that have yet signed a contract and the false claim of him singing with the Jets was the first time he was involved in a contract or contract talks. Ryan is coming off a season where he has recorded a career-high in sacks, pass deflections, and forced fumbles with 18 pass deflections, 4.5 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles along with 4 interceptions. With that impressive season, Ryan is reportedly seeking a contract worth an $8-$10 million annual salary.
Many teams may hesitate to give Ryan that type of contract due to the fact he had a great year out of nowhere and may refer to him as a one-hit-wonder. Despite that, teams should consider signing Ryan as he has recorded double-digit pass deflections four out of the past five years and 4 sacks in the last two years. Ryan was the most targeted cornerback in the league which may have played a factor in recording a career-high in pass deflections and having 4 interceptions.
Despite that Ryan is still young and well capable of being a starter on a team that needs a cornerback and he also brings leadership entering his eight-year in the league. One team confirmed that will not sign Ryan are the Tennessee Titans as Ryan publicly announced his chapter in Tennessee has come to a close.
