UFC 249 has been CANCELLED
Unfortunately, UFC 249 has been cancelled, according to UFC insider Brett Okamoto. This was a event many in particular were once looking forward to watching.
Originally, the main event was a scheduled bout between undisputed lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former UFC interim champion and #1 ranked contender Tony Ferguson.
UFC President was quoted saying this the other day about the event as he was ready to pull the trigger on hosting the event on a secluded island.
“I’m a day or two away from securing a private island. I won’t be able to get international fighters, all of them, into the US, so I have a private island; I’m going to start flying them all into the private island and doing international fights from there”
Yesterday, co-main event start ‘Thug’ Rose Namajunas pulled out of her bout scheduled with Jessica Andrade due to Coronavirus complications in her family.
Dana White said he was very close to promoting the fight however, things were reportedly “taken out of his hands”.
After we saw Khabib Nurmagomedov Vs Tony Ferguson cancelled for the 5th time, fans were at least hoping for en exciting bout between Justin Gaethje and Tony Ferguson for the interim belt, but it doesn’t look like we’ll be seeing that any time soon.
