Dana White set to secure private island for UFC 249

Dana White just released the full updated fight card for UFC 249 after undisputed lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov dropped out due to Coronavirus complications back in his home country Russia.

Tony Ferguson will now take on #4 ranked lightweight contender Justin Gaethje in the main event.

The events co-main will be a rematch between former lightweight champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas in an attempt to earn a title shot at current champion Zhang Weili.

News was just released that UFC president Dana White is close to “securing” a private island in which the event will take place.

The event has not had a set location since the Coronavirus scare, however, an island was never considered a real option.

White released a statement regarding the shocking news.

“I’m a day or two away from securing a private island. I won’t be able to get international fighters, all of them, into the US, so I have a private island; I’m going to start flying them all into the private island and doing international fights from there”

The event is still set to take place on April 18th, however many things are still being worked out within the organization.
