UFC 248: Pre-Fight Analysis
Tonight at UFC 247 we see Israel Adesanya take on veteran Yoel Romero in hopes to defend his belt for the first time.
Not only do we see an electrifying main event, but in the co-main event, we also witness Women’s straw-weight champ Weili Zhang take on #4 ranked Joanna Jedrzejczyk in hopes to defend her belt after a win over former champion Jessica Andrade.
What to expect:
Main Event
Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero
Tonight we see two of the most vicious middleweight’s on the planet go at it for the 185 strap.
Although Yoel is highly regarded as one of the best freestyle wrestlers in the promotion, it wouldn’t be too surprising if this fight stays on the feet.
Yoel’s last fight in which he fought rising star Paulo Costa, he only secured one takedown in what fans thought would be a wrestling match.
With as dominant a strike the Style Bender is, it wouldn’t be very surprising if Yoel didn’t attempt many takedowns but instead stood up to prove that he’s just as strong a striker as he is a wrestler.
Co-Main Event
Weili Zhang Vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk
After a first-round TKO against Jessica Andrade to become the new straw-weight women’s champion, Weili Zhang looks to defend her new title for the first time.
Since 2016, Joanna Jedrzejczyk has beat top contenders such as Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Claudia Gadelha, and Jessica Andrade but has also fallen short to names such as Rose Namajunas (2) and Valentina Shevchenko.
This will be a true test for the brand new champ, coming up against a true veteran of the game.
