Wilder fires trainer and blames ring walk equipment for loss
After a tragic and devastating loss to now WBC, and lineal heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, Deontay Wilder has fired trainer Mark Breland after he ”threw the towel” in order to save Wilder after suffering a punctured eardrum.
Not only has Wilder fired his trainer, but he has also made some statements regarding his heavy armoury that he wore during his walkout.
Wilder claims that his ”costume” that he wore for his ring walk weighed over ”40 pounds”. Wilder also said that it affected his strength as it was a lot to carry, which supposedly “weakened his legs”.
Here’s what Wilder had to say about the firing of long time trainer Mark Breland…
I still love Mark Breland. But he will not be a part of the team going forward
In addition to all the recent drama surrounding the ‘Bronze Bomber’, he has also exercised his right to a “Trilogy” rematch against Tyson Fury.
The date of their third fight to this point is unknown but is expected to be the most highly anticipated bout of the decade.
Eddie Hearn spoke post-fight in regards to a potential British showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, however, it doesn’t seem that bout will be happening any time soon.
