Jaxson Hayes: “The NBA Can Really S–k My D–k” After Rising Stars Snub

1

Jaxon Hayes went off on the NBA after not receiving a roster spot for the Rising Stars USA team. Hayes is very clearly angry about not receiving a spot on the roster. He took his frustration to Twitter yesterday, and posted a video on how unfair the NBA is. He said the the NBA is “bulls–t” and that the NBA is “all about politics,” reasoning for why he didn’t get the spot.

Hayes has been having a solid rookie season this year, averaging 8.4 points and 4.5 rebounds. The 19 year-old Center has a very high ceiling, but is also incredibly raw. He has only started in 12 games and doesn’t take many shots. His best flashes of talent are his highlight dunks and blocks. In only 19.1 minutes per game he gets a solid 1.1 blocks.

Hayes honestly should’ve gotten a roster spot over Zion Williamson, but the NBA wanted Zion on the team for obvious reasons. That is likely what Hayes meant when he called the NBA a “political league.” Williamson has been very impressive, but he has only played five games. Hayes has been quite an exciting player to watch. He is going to be a key piece in the Pelicans young core for years to come, especially when Derrick Favors is gone.

Hayes is definitely going to get his chance to make this roster in a few years. Maybe even next year. With that said, attacking the NBA on social media is not the best way to try and obtain a roster spot. Matisse Thybulle was snubbed from the roster as well, but he did not go the same route as Hayes. Hayes will likely receive a fine from the NBA in the near future for his comments. He did send out an apology soon after, but the damage is done. Hayes needs to learn from this and contain his anger when speaking publicly.
