TORONTO RAPTORS WIN THEIR FIRST CHAMPIONSHIP IN FRANCHISE HISTORY

By Terqirez | LeagueAlerts Writer
On June 14, 2019 after the last buzzer sounded the Toronto Raptors made history. After making their first NBA finals appearance since joining the league in 1995. The Raptors went on to win their first NBA Championship in Franchise history.
POST GAME RECAP
Kyle Lowry the “Heart and soul of the Toronto Raptors” as Fred VanVleet said, he helped bring this Toronto Raptors team their first NBA Championship. He set the tone early in the game scoring the first 11 points and for the Toronto Raptors.
Both teams played hard and fought to the end of the game. Despite the Golden State Warriors star shooting guard Klay Thompson leaving the game late in the 3rd quarter due to an knee injury after being fouled while attempting a fast break dunk, Thompson left and headed to the locker room before making an iconic return to shoot his two free throws then heading back to get examined by staff. Thompson finished the game with 30 points and 5 rebounds, while adding 2 steals. Thompson was 8-12 from the field and 4-6 from deep.
After Thompson checked out and was ruled out by medical staff, the Golden State Warriors relied heavily on Stephen Curry for their offense. Curry finished the game with just 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 7 assist while adding 2 steals. Steph shot just 6-17 from the field and 3-11 from beyond the arc. Draymond Green had a big impact on the game for Golden State Warriors, despite the loss he finished with an 11 point triple double while also bringing down 19 rebounds, and 13 assists.
LAST MINUTE OF THE GAME
Other than Klay Thompson’s iconic 3rd quarter moment, the last minute of the NBA Finals game 6 was one of the most intense endings in NBA Finals history. As Demarcus Cousins made the layup that put the game within 2 points before the Warriors let the game slip away. Although Curry did his job on the court and had a decent performance some may say the loss is on him. After Thompson went down late in the 3rd quarter Stephen Curry had to pull most of the offensive load on his own. Potentially overwhelmed by the moment may be the reason for him going 0-7 from the field in the last .20 seconds of the game.
