UNDER THE RADAR: JRUE HOLIDAY

New Orleans Pelicans v Sacramento Kings

There is three things in America that are for certain Death, Taxes and no one is a bigger fan of Jrue Holiday than me.

Jrue is having a great season

He is averaging career highs of

20.7 ppg – 8.3 apg – 1.7 spg
Jrue is an all hustle player. He can get you buckets when needed and he can run your offense. An underrated passer and just a smash mouth defender.  He is phenomenal at defending for 90 feet and shifting plus twisting his body to change directions with the opposing player. He has a great knack for  playing one pass away and often times when players  see an easy basket it is usually Jrue intercepting it. He is a huge part of this pelicans defense and is the best defender on the team not name Anthony Davis.
Jrue is a two way point guard that will lock up his opponent and go get you a 20 point 10 assist double double. Not the greatest 3 point shooter but he shoots at a respectable 33% from deep. He can attack the basket or give you a nice pull up from mid range. Him and AD are deadly when they get the pick and roll going. The Pelicans are +6.3 with him and the court and +18.8 On-Off. There is no doubt in my mind that he should be in an all-defensive team this year and should receive some all-star consideration.

The offense strives when Jrue is in control of the offense and they put the decision-making in his hands.

Last year he was one of the main reasons the Pelicans were able to sweep the Trailblazers in the first round. He was in charge of putting the Portland backcourt in check and contain them. For four straight games he was able to do just that averaging 27 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assist a game. Rajon Rondo, Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis lead the way for the underdogs. Jrue was a scoring machine but he made his name in this series by putting the brakes on Damian Lillard throughout the series.

One of my personal favorites and one of the most underrated and underappreciated players the league has ever seen.

Do you think he is underrated? Can Jrue make the all-star team?
