SHOCKING Dwyane Wade facts that you never knew!!!

Dwyane Tyrone Wade, also known as Dwyane Wade or The Flash, has played majority of his basketball career in the NBA playing for the Miami Heat. He had a very rough path to becoming the future hall of famer we know him for.

Personal Life

Being a Chicago native, Wade’s upbringing was described as very difficult. He stated that his mom already had two children at the age of 18 and also took drugs. At a young age, Wade experienced a lot of tragic experiences such as police raids and finding dead bodies near dumpsters and etc. When he was 4 months old, his parents had a divorce and his custody was given to his mom. In 1994, his mom arrested for possession of cocaine. She served a 23 months sentence and Wade only met her through a glass panel. Wade turned to sports has a distraction from temptation from drugs and gang-relations. He began to idolize Micheal Jordan as he was a huge Chicago Bulls fan. Consequently, Wade joined his high school basketball team and played like a star.

College Life

Wade was recruited by only three colleges: Marquette, Illinois and DePaul University) dur to academic problems. During college, his mother was either in jail or running away from the law. In 2001, she announced that she was becoming clean in a Chicago Church. In 2001, Wade returned home expecting his mother to be clean but his mother told him that she was going to jail again to serve a 14 month sentence.

Wade had academic problems which made him ineligible to play for the team. So, he hired a tutor to help him out. In 2001, his grades improved and he joined the team leading the Marquette Eagles in scoring with 17.8ppg.

In 2002-03, Wade led the team in scoring again with 21.5ppg and the scholl won their first and only Conference USA Championship and also led to their first Final Four. That year, he entered the 2003 draft.

In March 2003, his mother was released from jail and saw Wade play basketball for the first time in 5 years.

NBA Career

Dwyane Wade was selected 5th overall in the 2003 draft by the Miami Heat. He quickly distinguished himself as an efficient scorer by putting up 16.2 points.

In 2004, Wade had a breakout year as he averaged 24.1 points per game along side his recently traded teammate Shaquille O’Neal.

He also had an amazing playoffs averaging over 25 points until they were eliminated by the Detroit Pistons.

In 2005, Dwyane Wade was elected as an starter for the all star game as he began to become a prominent NBA player. He finished the season averaging 27.2 ppg. He continued to excel in the playoffs and finally reached his first NBA finals against the Dallas Mavericks. He ended up winning it all and also won Finals MVP.

From 2006 to 2008, Wade went through some serious injuries missing a total of 31 games in one season but still made an All-NBA team. Sadly, the Heat began to miss the playoffs as their rising star was injured and Shaq was getting older. His injuries caused him to have surgery and started his rehabilitation and helped the US win Gold in 2008.

The Big Three Era

On July 7, it was announced that Wade would be re-signing with the Miami Heat, along with former Toronto Raptor Chris Bosh. The following day, Lebron James announced he would be joining the Heat to play with Wade and Bosh, causing a stir in the media and among fans.The deals were officially announced on July 10; Bosh and James arrived via sign-and-trade deals. The Heat finished with a 58–24 record in the first year of the Big 3 Era and earned the second seed in the Eastern Conference. For the season, Wade averaged 25.5 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game, shooting 50% from the field. They beat the Philadelphia 76ers, Boston Celtics and Chicago Bulls and reached the finals but lost to the Dallas Mavericks.

In 2011-12, they reached the finals again by beating New York Knicks, Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers. This time, they were facing the loaded Oklahoma City Thunder of 2011 comprised of James Harden, Kevin Durant (coming off an MVP season), Russell Westbrook and Serge Ibaka. The Heat became the first NBA team to win the championship after trailing three different playoff series as they beat the OKC Thunder in 5 games as Wade secures his second NBA title.

In 2012-13, Wade had a rough playoff as injuries limited him to only averaging 15 points per game in the playoffs but still reached the Finals against the Spurs as they won a terrific series that went till Game 7 as the Miami Heat went back-to-back.

In 2014 finals, their was a rematch of the previous finals between the Heat and the Spurs as this time the Spurs came out on top.

In 2015, Lebron James decided to return to Cleveland and Dwyane Wade resigned with the Heat. This season was full of injuries for Wade as he barely played 50 games and missed the playoffs.

In 2016, Wade decided to join his hometown Chicago Bulls teaming up with Rondo and Butler. This experiment was a complete fail as chemistry was never developed.

On September 27 2017, Wade was bought out by the Chicago Bulls and signed with Lebron’s Cleveland Cavaliers. This experiment was also a fail. At the trade deadline, Dwyane was traded back to the Heat where people started to assume would be his last few games but Dwyane Wade thought otherwise as he announced he was going to play one more season on his Instagram (“One Last Dance”)

Dwyane Wade single handily changed the NBA as he became a prominent scorer and inspired many people to continue their dream. Currently, he is married and has four children: Zaire, Xavier, Zion and Kaavia
